Transportation Equipment Network has named former Amazon Freight General Manager Ari Silkey as chief operating officer, adding a transportation technology veteran as the company expands operational and digital capabilities.

Silkey joins Dublin, Ohio-based Transportation Equipment Network (TEN) after spending a decade at Amazon, where he helped build and lead the company’s North American surface transportation network, according to a June 4 company release. As COO, he will oversee operations for TEN’s fleet of more than 80,000 trailers while focusing on technology, AI and service delivery improvements.
Silkey’s experience scaling transportation operations and his customer-focused approach will support investments in operations and technology, TEN Chief Executive Hooman Yazhari said in the release.
The appointment comes as TEN continues to expand across North America. The company, which dsays it is the continent’s largest full-service trailer lessor, operates more than 45 locations in the United States and Canada.
At Amazon, Silkey helped develop transportation technologies, including the Amazon Relay application and carrier management systems that support one of North America’s largest freight networks.
TEN’s scale and growth potential attracted Silkey to the role, he said in the release, noting the company plans to expand its role with transportation customers.
TEN operates approximately 80,000 trailers, nearly 50 locations, 249 service bays and a network of mobile service trucks and technicians, according to the release.
