TEN adds 3K trailers to North American fleet
Expansion comes ahead of peak freight season, tightening capacity
Transportation Equipment Network is adding 3,000 dry van trailers to its North American fleet as the company prepares for peak freight season and tighter equipment capacity.
The addition will increase Transportation Equipment Network’s (TEN) fleet to 85,000 trailers, according to a Sept. 16 TEN release. The new 2027 models will feature telematics and trailer sensors and be available for rent or lease beginning in October.
The fleet expansion comes as demand for new trailers rises. July trailer orders nearly doubled year over year, according to the release, citing ACT Research. Meanwhile, retailers have moved holiday inventory imports forward by four to six weeks amid tariff uncertainty, putting additional freight into distribution networks earlier than usual.
Those trends are contributing to a longer peak season and tightening available trailer capacity. The industry’s backlog-to-build ratio has reached five months, meaning trailers ordered now are unlikely to be delivered before the second quarter of 2027, according to ACT Research.
TEN offers dry van, refrigerated, heated, flatbed, chassis and storage equipment.
