Einride, DAF partner on autonomous electric trucks

Einride and DAF Trucks are partnering to integrate Einride’s autonomous driving technology into DAF electric trucks, advancing efforts to commercialize Level 4 autonomous freight transportation.

Einride’s autonomous driving system, Einride Driver, will allow a vehicle to operate without human intervention under defined conditions.

Einride and DAF will initially work with Dutch research institute TNO to define and test the integration, including interfaces needed for safe autonomous operations, according to the release. The companies are also working with type approval authorities to support deployment on public roads.

The companies set initial interface testing and validation for later this year, according to the release. They plan to integrate Einride’s software into a DAF truck in 2027, followed by additional validation and functional testing.

The initiative builds on automated-driving work by DAF parent PACCAR, including its North American Autonomous Vehicle Platform.

DAF manufactures light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks and offers financial services through PACCAR Financial. Einride, founded in Stockholm in 2016, provides autonomous and electric freight technology and services across North America, Europe and the Middle East.
