Byline Bancorp, parent company of Chicago-based Byline Bank, has appointed three executives to senior leadership positions as part of a succession plan related to two retirements.
According to an Oct. 8 company release, the appointments, effective Jan. 1, 2027, include:
- Sean McGuire, executive vice president and chief commercial banking officer, a new position overseeing an expanded commercial banking organization.
- Darrin Bacon, EVP and head of commercial banking, succeeding Brogan Ptacin and reporting to McGuire.
- Scott Hawthorne, EVP and chief credit officer, succeeding Mark Fucinato.
McGuire has more than 35 years of commercial banking experience, while Bacon joined Byline through its 2018 acquisition of First Bank & Trust. Hawthorne, who joined the bank in 2023, has served as deputy chief credit officer since August.
Ptacin and Fucinato will retire Dec. 31 after a combined 25 years with Byline. Both will remain in part-time advisory roles to assist with the leadership transition, according to the release. Ptacin has overseen Byline’s commercial and industrial lending, leasing and wealth management operations since becoming head of commercial banking in 2019.
Byline Bank, which provides small-ticket equipment leasing solutions, has approximately $9.9 billion in assets and operates 44 branches in the Chicago and Milwaukee metropolitan areas, according to the release.
Byline’s lease financing receivables totaled $721.1 million as of June 30, down 1.4% year over year, according to its July 23 second-quarter earnings release. Leasing represented 9.6% of the bank’s total loan and lease portfolio, down from 10% a year earlier.
