Sandvik secures Mexican mining equipment deal
Deliveries from $40.3M in orders planned through 2028
Swedish equipment manufacturer Sandvik has secured a major underground mining equipment order from La Cantera Desarrollos Mineros.
The company booked the order for the leading underground mining contractor in Mexico in the second quarter, and the order is valued at about 430 million krona ($40.3 million), according to a June 16 Sandvik release. The order includes loaders, drill rigs and rock bolters, with deliveries scheduled from 2025 through 2028.
The deal comes as Sandvik completed its acquisition of Verisurf Software. Verisurf is a U.S.-based provider of 3D metrology software, acquired on June 3, according to a release that day. Headquartered in Anaheim, Calif., Verisurf recorded 2024 revenues of $12 million. The company will operate as a separate business unit under Sandvik’s Machining and Intelligent Manufacturing division.
Sandvik reported a 2% year-over-year increase in order intake, reaching approximately $3.1 billion in the first quarter, according to the company’s April 16 earnings release. Total revenues rose 1% to about $2.8 billion in Q1.
