German commercial vehicle manufacturer MAN Truck and Bus, a subsidiary of Traton Group, has delivered its first 10 long-distance electric trucks.
Global logistics company DB Schenker purchased the MAN eTGX semitrailer tractors, designed for high-volume transport, according to a Jan. 29 release. The electric trucks, developed specifically for mega trailers and with an interior height of three meters, will be used across various sectors, including the automotive industry, where high loading capacity is essential. The high-volume design aims to enhance transport efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
As part of a 2023 letter of intent, DB Schenker and MAN Truck and Bus have committed to adding 100 electric trucks to the fleet by 2026. In addition, both companies recently signed a new letter of intent for the delivery of 50 MAN eTGLs, a 12-tonne electric truck designed for urban freight transport. Orders for the eTGL will open in April 2025, further expanding DB Schenker’s electric vehicle portfolio for distribution logistics.
