Bot Auto and Ryan Transportation are launching fully driverless freight operations between Houston and Dallas, expanding the commercial use of autonomous trucks in Texas.

Bot Auto, a Houston-based Level 4 autonomous trucking company, will operate driverless trucks on a roughly 200-mile overnight route between Houston and the southern Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex starting in the spring, according to a Feb. 25 Bot Auto release. The lane features tight delivery windows and coverage difficulties due to driver fatigue, hours-of-service limits and labor shortages. Driverless runs are expected to begin this spring.

Ryan Transportation, ranked 19th on the 2025 Transport Topics Top 100 Freight Brokerage list, will add Bot Auto’s Transportation as a service model to its brokerage network, according to the release. Bot Auto designed the autonomous trucks to depart on schedule, maintain steady speeds and operate without mandatory rest breaks, making them well-suited for high-frequency, time-sensitive freight.

Overland Park, Kan.-headquartered Ryan Transportation, a subsidiary of Shamrock Trading Corp., has more than 700 employees across multiple U.S. offices, according to the release. Bot Auto operates an AI-driven autonomous fleet that focuses on improving efficiency and lowering the cost per mile as it expands.
