CanLift Equipment, one of Canada’s largest independently owned lift equipment providers, introduced artificial intelligence across its customer-facing and internal operations.
CanLift’s AI chatbot makes it one of the first U.S. mobile elevated work platform rental companies to deploy AI at scale, according to a Sept. 18 CanLift release. The move comes as the Canadian Rental Association (CRA) projects construction rental to grow 4% in 2025 to $6.6 billion, according to a May CRA release.
The company launched the chatbot, Clive, to provide 24/7 online support and implemented AI-powered call routing, reducing response times, streamlining quotes and cutting downtime for rental customers, according to the release.
Internally, CanLift created an employee-led “AI Club” that developed custom GPTs to optimize fleet use, prioritize urgent repairs and manage cash flow, while AI video generation is being used to produce training and onboarding content.
Staff reported faster collections, improved dispatch accuracy and more efficient service calls. Meanwhile, the company emphasized that AI adoption has enhanced — not replaced — jobs, boosting employee engagement while reinforcing its people-first culture.
CanLift plans to extend AI into predictive maintenance and personalized rental recommendations, advancing its goal of delivering greater efficiency and value to customers while maintaining a focus on employee satisfaction and retention, according to the release. The company expects the tools to empower staff to focus on customer relationships and service quality.
