Equipment industry mergers and acquisitions activity spread across several industry sectors in March.

CCA Financial expands with Macquarie Equipment Finance’s portfolio

Richmond, Va.-based CCA Financial has acquired the technology equipment lease portfolio from Toronto-based Macquarie Equipment Finance, a subsidiary of Macquarie Group, according to a CCA release today.

The transaction, completed March 21, includes integration of Macquarie’s sales and operations teams into CCA to ensure seamless client service. As part of expansion, CCA is opening a Toronto office to enhance client and vendor relationships. With the acquisition, CCA aims to strengthen its position in the North American equipment and technology financing market.

CCA Financial is one of North America’s largest independent equipment and technology financing companies, offering customized leasing solutions for more than 50 years. Macquarie Equipment Finance has provided specialized financing and asset management solutions for over two decades.

Messick Farm Equipment acquires Rovendale Ag and Barn

Mount Joy, Pa.-based Messick Farm Equipment acquired three additional Pennsylvania locations from Rovendale Ag and Barn in Watsontown, Wysox, and Honesdale for an undisclosed amount, Neil Messick, owner of Messick Farm Equipment, said in a video announcement posted on LinkedIn on March 10.

The acquisition offers customers increased buying power, more competitive pricing on parts and equipment, and expanded service capabilities, he said. With larger service departments and the introduction of new product lines, Messick’s aims to provide more comprehensive support to agricultural equipment customers.

Unlike the industry trend toward corporate consolidation, Messick’s remains a family-run business with five, third-generation owners actively involved in leadership, Messick said in the video. The merger with Rovendale, another family-owned business, reflects the family’s commitment to personal, community-focused business relationships.

Messick’s plans to retain existing staff.

RB Global to purchase J.M. Wood Auction Co.

RB Global has agreed to acquire J.M. Wood Auction for an undisclosed amount, according to a March 11 RB Global release.

The acquisition expands RB Global’s presence in Alabama and surrounding states while integrating J.M. Wood’s expertise in commercial construction and transportation asset auctions. J.M. Wood will continue operating independently from its Montgomery, Ala., headquarters.

RB Global Chief Executive Jim Kessler said the deal strengthens the company’s geographic reach and brings in a team with deep local relationships. J.M. Wood Vice President Russ Wood stated that the partnership provides expanded resources, technology and services for Wood buyers and sellers.

RB Global is a global marketplace and transaction solutions provider for commercial assets, and is the parent company for Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, IAA, Rouse Services, SmartEquip and VeriTread, among others. Pending regulatory approval, the transaction is expected to close in the second quarter.

Sunstate Equipment buys AJ Rental in Texas expansion

Sunstate Equipment has acquired AJ Rental Dallas for an undisclosed amount according to a March 4 press release.

The acquisition expands its construction equipment rental network in Texas, according to the release. AJ Rental customers will now have access to Sunstate’s broader network, enhanced technology and expanded equipment selection.

Both companies share a customer-focused approach, and AJ Rental’s team will continue operations with the added resources of Sunstate.

FleetPride expands mobile maintenance in Texas with OTR Fleet Service acquisition

Irving, Texas-based FleetPride, the nation’s largest independent distributor of aftermarket heavy-duty parts and service, has acquired Houston-based OTR Fleet Service for an undisclosed amount, according to a March 18 FleetPride release.

The acquisition adds service centers in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, along with more than 30 mobile units.

Founded nearly 20 years ago, OTR Fleet Service has grown into a leading independent fleet maintenance provider, offering mobile and in-shop services, including major truck and trailer repairs, refurbishment and 24/7 emergency breakdown assistance, according to the release. The acquisition integrates FleetPride’s parts and service operations with OTR’s expertise in mobile maintenance, enhancing customer support and expanding service capabilities.

Early-bird pricing for the third annual Equipment Finance Connect ends March 28. Taking place at the JW Marriott Nashville on May 14-15, 2025, this is the only event for both equipment dealers and finance providers. Learn more and register here.
