New West Truck Centres CEO Greg Stahl dies
52-year-old founded Canadian dealership group in June 2008
Greg Stahl, owner and chief executive of Canadian dealer group New West Truck Centres, died last weekend at the age of 52.
Stahl was named president in 2008 and became CEO in 2018. New West Truck Centres has 10 locations in Alberta, Canada, including Red Deer, Balzac, Calgary, Lethbridge, Taber, Medicine Hat and Cranbrook, according to the company.
Before entering the trucking industry as a dealer, Stahl worked for several years at parts manufacturer Cummins, working closely with Freightliner parent company Daimler Truck North America. Stahl also was chair of the Motor Dealers Association of Alberta, according to the association’s LinkedIn page.

New West Truck Centres was formed in June 2008 with the purchase of Freightliner dealers in southern Alberta. It sells and supports new Freightliner trucks and Trinity trailers and pre-owned vehicles. It also offers financing options.

New West Truck Centres issued a release on the “tragic and unexpected” death of the dealer group’s CEO and owner.
“For the past 16 years, Greg poured his heart into New West Truck Centres — not just building a business, but shaping a team, a culture and a shared sense of purpose,” according to the statement. “His energy, compassion and commitment to our core values — professionalism, responsiveness, integrity, dedication and energy — have left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of working with him.”
