Equipment auctioneer Ritchie Bros. sold more than 11,000 equipment items, trucks and vehicles at its premier Canadian auction in Edmonton last week, generating nearly CA$225 million ($161.38) in gross transaction value.
The five-day event, held April 29 to May 3, drew over 18,000 bidders from more than 50 countries, according to a news release today. About 94% of the equipment was sold to Canadian buyers. International buyers from countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Peru and the Netherlands accounted for the remaining 6%.
Ritchie Bros., a subsidiary of commercial vehicle marketplace RB Global, has several upcoming sales, including regional events in Ontario (May 21–23), Quebec (May 27–29), Atlantic Canada (May 30) and British Columbia (June 3–4). The next large Edmonton auction is set for June 23–25.
