Alternative asset manager Proterra Investment Partners has acquired AcreTrader, a farmland investment platform that combines agriculture, finance and technology.
The deal positions AcreTrader to expand its farmland offerings, which include equipment, while continuing its mission to increase access and transparency in the asset class, according to a Proterra release today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. AcreTrader’s separate land intelligence business, Acres.com, will continue operating independently.
Since its founding in 2018, AcreTrader has facilitated investments in more than 140 properties totaling 44,000 acres across 20 states, with realized deals generating net internal rates of return ranging from 9.4% to 30.3%.
Minneapolis-based Proterra’s core investment verticals include credit, farmland, growth equity, sustainable agriculture and asset-backed strategies.
