Used-truck sales and prices declined in November, reflecting transportation industry woes.

Preliminary same-dealer used-truck retail sales decreased 17% month over month and 14% year over year in November, according to a report today by ACT Research. The average used-truck price fell for the fourth straight month, down 2% MoM and 4% YoY.

Auction sales plunged 33% MoM, and wholesale transactions dropped 20% MoM, ACT Research Vice President Steve Tam stated in the report.

“Total reported November preliminary sales came in 24% lower than October,” he said. “It seems pretty clear the used-truck market is reflecting a soft freight environment. Load and truck postings also declined in the spot freight markets from October to November.”
