The number of commercial trucks available for sale spiked in January while prices rose for new and used vehicles.

Meanwhile, new and used commercial truck prices have increased this month while prices for certified pre-owned trucks dipped slightly, according to EFN’s new Average Pricing of Commercial Trucks and Trailers by Condition dataset. This interactive data, going back to November 2024, is also updated daily and identifies pricing trends in the trucking industry. A slider below the graph allows readers to zoom in on the details.

As of Jan. 16, new commercial truck prices were roughly $119,300, up 4.3% MoM. Used truck prices rose 5.3% MoM to about $45,700, and certified pre-owned prices fell 0.4% MoM to roughly $81,600.
Certified pre-owned trucks are different from used trucks because they have passed additional inspections and been reconditioned to like-new quality.
The jump in used-truck prices further suggests that they have bottomed out as the industry makes gradual strides toward recovery, Sandhills Global Equipment Lease and Finance Manager Jim Ryan told EFN last week.
“We’ve kind of hit that bottom tier to where I don’t think we’re going to see much more of a dip,” he said. “I think there’s some opportunity for some positive trends this year on the trucking side.”
