Toronto-based Canada Cartage signed an agreement to acquire Walmart Fleet, the transportation division of Walmart Canada.
Canada Cartage’s acquisition will add employees and enhance network optimization, while supporting its continued growth, according to a Jan. 30 company release. Walmart Fleet, based in Mississauga, Ontario, services Walmart’s more than 400 stores nationwide.
No purchase price was provided.
The acquisition aligns with Walmart Canada’s strategy to focus on store and supply chain expansion while allowing Canada Cartage to strengthen its fleet outsourcing capabilities, according to the release. Canada Cartage intends to further expand the company’s Canadian reach following the transaction.
The company will operate the fleet as a dedicated service, ensuring continuity for Walmart Canada, according to the release. The transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks, subject to customary conditions.
