Opifex-Synergy, one of the largest independent equipment rental companies in the United States, has appointed Joseph Vaughn III chief executive officer effective immediately.
He succeeds Synergy Equipment founder J.C. Mas, who will remain chairman of the board, according to a July 31 company release. The announcement comes roughly a year after Opifex and Synergy Equipment merged, creating the ninth-largest U.S. equipment rental provider at the time.
Vaughn, co-founder of Austin, Texas-based Opifex, takes the helm with a goal of expanding across the Sun Belt. Vaughn plans to focus on expanding fleet offerings, enhancing customer experience through technology and fostering a culture of hands-on leadership at every branch.
Under his leadership, Opifex expanded rapidly from a Texas startup to a regional player. The combined company now operates more than 30 branches across Texas, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama.
“Jay’s track record of disciplined growth and innovation makes him the ideal CEO to lead Opifex-Synergy into its next chapter,” Mas stated in the release. “He understands this business from the ground up and moves seamlessly between service technicians and institutional investors.”
