Caterpillar is deepening its AI and data strategy through a collaboration with Accenture and Snowflake, becoming a flagship customer of the new Accenture Snowflake Business Group.
The initiative is designed to help Caterpillar and other enterprises unlock greater value from operational data across manufacturing, finance and knowledge management, according to a Dec. 3 Accenture release. The business group also aims to help those entities modernize data estates, migrate to the cloud and implement agentic and generative AI use cases at scale.
The effort brings together Caterpillar’s IT AI Center of Excellence, Accenture’s industrial and AI expertise, and Snowflake’s AI Data Cloud platform, including Snowflake Intelligence and Snowflake Cortex AI, according to the release. The combined approach will speed Caterpillar’s enterprisewide transformation and improve decision-making, efficiency and product quality.
The new organization plans to scale generative AI and data-driven solutions for global enterprises with support from more than 5,000 SnowPro-certified specialists, the largest talent pool of its kind, according to the release. A new global Center of Excellence will allow the companies and clients to co-develop assets and quickly apply emerging AI capabilities.
Accenture and Snowflake believe the partnership reflects broader trends in the market, according to the release. This comes as 85% of C suite executives plan to increase AI investments this year, and 67% view AI as a revenue driver rather than a cost-cutting tool, according to Accenture’s Pulse of Change research report released Sept. 5.
