Yamaha Motor and John Deere are teaming up to develop side-by-side vehicles, combining their respective engineering and production capabilities while continuing to operate separate brands and dealer networks.
Under the agreement, Yamaha will contribute expertise in powertrains and vehicle design, while John Deere will bring its vehicle development resources, United States manufacturing capabilities and knowledge of its customer base, according to a release today from Yamaha.
The companies plan to develop side-by-side products as customer needs evolve. Yamaha and John Deere did not offer a timeline or information on vehicles expected to result from the partnership.
Jon Chase, vice president of John Deere’s turf and compact utility business unit, said in the release that the companies’ shared focus on product quality, innovation and dealer support provides a foundation for developing differentiated vehicles.
Yamaha and John Deere will retain their existing sales channels, dealer relationships and customer relationships, according to the release.
