EquipmentShare, Cummins partner on power solutions
Partnership will add 1 gigawatt of energy capacity to EquipmentShare's fleet
Equipment rental and technology company EquipmentShare has announced a multiyear fleet agreement with Cummins to expand its natural gas power-generation offerings for construction and other energy-intensive projects across the United States.
EquipmentShare expects the power solutions manufacturer to deliver 1 gigawatt of generation capacity to its fleet, according to an EquipmentShare release today. The companies will support temporary power, microgrid and battery energy storage solutions as electricity demand rises and utilities struggle to keep pace with new industrial and infrastructure development.
The fleet will include Cummins’ C1400N6C generator set, which includes a continuous-duty natural gas unit capable of producing 1,400 to 1,750 kilovolt-amperes.
EquipmentShare will use existing natural gas pipeline infrastructure where available and virtual pipeline logistics to deliver fuel to off-grid locations. The company said that its natural gas-based approach can reduce contractors’ energy costs by 50% to 80% compared with traditional mobile power.
“Combining Cummins’ proven leadership in reliable, mission-critical power solutions with EquipmentShare’s technology-driven distribution platform allows us to bring a gigawatt of resilient energy capacity online to high-impact jobsites when and where they need it most,” EquipmentShare founder and Chief Executive Jabbok Schlacks stated in the release.
