Akrapoint is backed by $350 million in investment funds managed through KKR’s asset-based finance business, according to a KKR release today.

Akrapoint finance vocational vehicles and industrial equipment for small and mid-size businesses across the United States, serving industries including manufacturing, energy, waste management, construction and transportation.

Nate Smith will lead the company as co-founder and chief executive. Previously, Smith spend nearly a decade at transformation finance company Trans Lease, where he led credit, portfolio management, funding and compliance teams.

KKR established its asset-based finance strategy in 2016 and has since grown the platform to more than $91 billion in assets under management.
