Torc Robotics, an autonomous trucking technology provider and independent subsidiary of Daimler Truck, has named Tobias Wessels chief financial officer effective immediately.
The appointment comes as Torc strides toward commercial deployment of autonomous trucks on U.S. highways, according to a Torc release today.
Wessels was previously chief development officer at autonomous systems provider Helm.ai, playing a key role in its partnership with Volkswagen Group. His previous roles also include chief corporate development officer at autonomous delivery company Udelv and CFO of innovation lab Alphabet X.
“Tobias brings a rare combination of deep technical understanding and financial rigor, shaped by experience at the forefront of autonomy and AI,” Torc Chief Executive Peter Vaughan Schmidt stated in the release.
The autonomous trucking industry continues to gain momentum as financing models take shape.
