Fleet Advantage has released its latest Truck Life Cycle Data Index (TLDI), revealing substantial cost savings and environmental benefits for fleets upgrading to 2026 model-year diesel trucks, according to a Feb. 27 release by Fleet Advantage.
According to the TLDI, replacing a 2021 sleeper model with a 2026 model can generate a first-year savings of $13,097 per truck, or $1.3 million for a fleet of 100 trucks. Better fuel economy contributes significantly, with a projected $5,941 fuel savings per truck and a 14% increase in efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions, according to the Fleet Advantage release.
These findings emphasize the continued importance of diesel technology amid regulatory uncertainty, according to the release. Fleet Advantage stresses the necessity of a data-driven procurement strategy to optimize cost of ownership and capitalize on advancements in truck technology.
Modern clean diesel trucks have drastically reduced emissions, cutting nitrogen oxides by 99% and particulate matter by 98% compared to older models, according to the Diesel Technology Forum. Fleet Advantage, the largest independent lessor of Class 8 trucks, manages over 30,000 units and $3 billion in assets, providing fleet financing, analytics and asset management solutions.
