The Toro Co. has sold its Trencor equipment brand and the auger boring product category, part of its American Augers brand, for undisclosed terms, as part of a strategic effort to focus on core underground construction segments.

Following the sale, Toro will continue to produce American Augers’ horizontal directional drills, pumps and fluid cleaning systems at its West Salem, Ohio, facility, according to an August 7 Toro press release. The Trencor divestiture includes assets related to its large-track trenchers and mining equipment.

The moves aim to position Toro for growth in pipeline, water and energy transmission markets while improving operational efficiency and portfolio focus, according to the release. Trencor and American Augers were acquired in 2019 through the company’s purchase of Charles Machine Works, which also included the Ditch Witch brand.

Toro reported revenue from both divested operations in its professional segment, according to the release. The company reported $4.6 billion in net sales for fiscal 2024 and has operations in more than 125 countries.
