Plus, a software provider for autonomous trucks, is going public via merger with special purpose acquisition company Churchill Capital Corp.

Upon closing, the combined company will operate under the name PlusAI, according to a June 5 release by Santa Clara, Calif.-based Plus. The merger aims to position PlusAI as leader in the growing autonomous truck market, leveraging its AI platform and partnerships with major OEMs, which include Traton Group and Hyundai.

“Trucking is the backbone of the global economy but faces a persistent driver shortage,” Michael Klein, chairman and chief executive of of Churchill, stated in the release. “Plus stands out with its advanced virtual driver platform and OEM-led commercialization model.”

Founded in 2016, Plus has developed SuperDrive, a self-driving system designed for heavy-duty commercial trucks. The company validated its driverless safety system in April and is currently testing on public roads in Texas and Sweden, with commercial fleet trials set to begin in fall 2025.

Plus’ OEM partners are expected to build and support autonomous trucks equipped with its virtual driver platform, targeting April 2027 for launch of factory-built autonomous trucks, according to the release.
