Truck OEM Isuzu North America has strengthened its long-standing partnership with parts manufacturer The Shyft Group as it transitions to in-house vehicle assembly at a new facility in Greenville County, S.C.
While Isuzu will assume assembly operations at the new plant, the two companies are advancing plans for expanded collaboration, Isuzu announced in a Feb. 25 release. Shyft will continue assembling Isuzu’s N-Series Gas, N-Series EV and F-Series Diesel vehicles at its Charlotte, Mich., facility during the multiyear transition, ensuring uninterrupted production. In addition, Shyft will assist in planning and launching Isuzu’s new plant.
Further strengthening ties, Isuzu and Shyft are in discussions for Shyft to develop a vehicle upfit and modification center near the Greenville plant. The facility would provide final modifications and other services to support Isuzu’s North American operations.
