Dealer M&A activity picks up in January

5 dealership transactions included including Deere, Kubota and Volvo dealerships

The year kicked off with increased equipment dealer merger and acquisition activity, even compared to 2024’s elevated levels, with dealerships consolidating under large companies. 

Riesterer & Schnell acquires Eis Implement 

John Deere dealer Riesterer & Schnell acquired Eis Implement for an undisclosed amount, according to a Jan. 17 release by Riesterer & Schnell. Eis Implement, a third-generation John Deere dealer in Two Rivers, Wis., will be Riesterer & Schnell’s first location in northeast Wisconsin. 

Eis Implement has served the Manitowoc area since 1946, and brings its agricultural, residential, and commercial equipment expertise to the partnership, according to the release.   

Meanwhile, Riesterer & Schnell, a family-owned John Deere dealership since 1931, pledged a seamless transition and strong customer support, according to the release.   

Riesterer & Schnell is a leading John Deere dealer in northeastern, eastern and central Wisconsin, as well as upper Michigan in operation for 94 years. The acquisition increases the company footprint to 14 locations, according to the dealer. Riesterer & Schnell sells agricultural, turf and commercial worksite equipment for Deere, STIHL, Diamond Mowers and Frontier, among others. 

Springdale Tractor acquires Schaffer Kubota 

Springdale, Ark.-based Kubota dealer Springdale Tractor acquired Dallas-based Kubota dealer Schaffer Kubota for an undisclosed amount, according to a Jan. 15 release by sale-side adviser Performance Brokerage Services. 

Schaffer Kubota, a family-owned full-line Kubota dealership since 2022, serves the Dallas-Fort Worth area with equipment sales, rentals, leases and fleet services, according to the release. Through the acquisition, Springdale Tractor expands its Kubota dealership network into Texas, adding one new location to its six locations across Arkansas and Oklahoma, according to the release. Springdale expects to continue grow in Texas. 

Schaffer Kubota will be renamed Kubota of Dallas, according to the release. 

Allegiance Trucks adds HFI Truck Center in bid for NYC market 

Stamford, Conn.-headquartered commercial truck dealer Allegiance Trucks acquired Mountainside, N.J-based Isuzu dealership HFI Truck Center for an undisclosed amount, according to a Jan. 13 Allegiance release.  

With the acquisition, Allegiance Trucks expands into New Jersey and the New York City metro area and enhances its partnership with Isuzu, according to the release. The HFI location will employ approximately 20 people and offer truck sales, service and all-makes parts. 

Allegiance Trucks, one of the largest Isuzu dealers in the Northeast, operates 39 locations across nine states and is an authorized dealer for International, Isuzu, Pierce and Wabash, among other major brands. 

M&K Truck Centers adds Volvo locations with Ball Volvo buy 

Byron Center, Mich.-based M&K Truck Centers acquired Kahoka, Mo.-based Ball Volvo Truck & Tire Center to for an undisclosed amount, according to a Jan. 20 release from Performance Brokerage Services, which facilitated the sale. 

Established in 1973, Ball Volvo was owned and operated by Kenney and Carla Ball and their sons, Keith and Jarrod for 51 years, according to the release. M&K Truck Centers, founded in 1989, operates 29 locations across several states, representing leading brands such as Mack, Volvo, Hino and Isuzu, according to the release. The acquisition expands M&K’s footprint in Missouri and strengthens its partnership with Volvo Trucks. 

Ball Volvo will be renamed M&K Truck Centers, according to the release. 

Utility trailer dealers merge to form Mountain West Utility Trailer 

City of Industry, Calif.-based Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company announced the merger of two of its dealers, Utility Trailer Sales of Utah and Utility Trailer Sales of Idaho, to form Mountain West Utility Trailer, according to a Jan. 16 release. 

The operational area for the consolidated company includes locations across Utah, Nevada, Idaho and Washington, and will serve utility trailer customers throughout the region, according to the Utility Trailer release. 

Mountain West Utility Trailer will be led by majority shareholders Justin Deputy, president and CEO, and Spencer Deputy, chief sales officer, according to the release. The merger aims to expand operations, upgrade facilities, increase inventory, and onboard additional technicians to support a growing customer base. 

Utility Trailer, founded in 1914, is the oldest privately owned trailer manufacturer in the U.S., according to the release. It specializes in dry freight, flatbeds, refrigerated vans, and aerodynamic technologies, with an extensive dealer network spanning North and South America.
