Hitachi Construction Machinery has invested $3 million in AI firm Rithmik Solutions to accelerate advanced data analytics for mining equipment and strengthen its digital solutions for global mine sites.

The investment supports Hitachi’s strategy to help customers turn complex machine data into actionable insights that improve fleet performance, reduce unplanned downtime and lower total cost of ownership, according to today’s Hitachi release. The investment also aligns with Hitachi Construction Machinery’s planned rebrand to LANDCROS in April 2027, reflecting a broader focus on solutions beyond machinery.

Montreal-based Rithmik Solutions develops AI-driven analytics that identify early indicators of equipment issues and uncover root causes before failures occur, according to the release. The technology should significantly enhance Hitachi’s LANDCROS Connect Insight platform, which provides real-time monitoring and remote analysis for mining equipment.

By integrating Rithmik’s AI capabilities, the platform will be able to recommend proactive maintenance actions earlier, enabling more precise asset health management and preventing major mechanical problems, according to the release. Additionally, partnering with Rithmik supports Hitachi’s open-collaboration strategy and underscores its commitment to leveraging advanced AI technologies to meet the evolving needs of the mining industry.

The collaboration builds on a demonstration conducted at a mine site between August 2024 and July 2025, where operational data from 40 dump trucks and six ultra-large hydraulic excavators was analyzed. The testing confirmed the accuracy of early anomaly detection and showed potential gains in productivity, equipment availability and cost reduction.
