Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus, Foxconn, Foxtron Vehicle Technologies and Mitsubishi Fuso Bus Manufacturing Co. have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop zero-emission buses to strengthen the Fuso brand.

The collaboration will cover development, production, supply chain management and sales, beginning with Foxtron’s MODEL T and MODEL U buses, according to a Mitsubishi Fuso release today. Mitsubishi Fuso Bus Manufacturing will serve as the operational platform for manufacturing and commercialization in target markets, including introducing made-in-Japan internal combustion engines and ZEV buses.

The companies said the initiative will support Mitsubishi Fuso’s reindustrialization efforts, expand market access and accelerate clean mobility by providing buses tailored to a wider range of customer needs in the evolving global bus sector, according to the release. The four companies also intend to use this deal as the starting point for additional business opportunities in the commercial vehicle space.

The partnership follows Daimler Truck and Toyota Motor announcing plans to merge Daimler subsidiary Mitsubishi Fuso and Toyota subsidiary Hino into a jointly owned, publicly listed truck company by April 2026. Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus is currently owned by Daimler Truck AG, which hold 89.29% of its shares, according to the release.
