Net trailer orders trailers declined 43% month over month in July to 8,800 units after an unexpected 133% increase in June.
However, the 8,800 units ordered marked a 19% YoY increase, according to an ACT Research report today. Year-to-date orders reached 100,700 units, a 23% increase compared with the same period last year.
“While July results reflect seasonal weakness, order activity is expected to remain subdued until at least mid-third quarter, when more of the industry’s 2026 order books open,” Jennifer McNealy, ACT’s director of commercial vehicle market research and publications, stated in the report.
Production again outpaced orders in July, with trailer builds roughly double net order intake. Backlogs declined 11% month over month and remain well below last year’s already soft levels, McNealy said.
